Identical win percentages made this Eastern matchup all the intriguing. New York and Boston are 18-20 in 10th and 11th respectively, one might expect a close encounter and we got it. Big Frenchman Evan Fournier had a career high 41 points whilst Jay Tatum had 36 points contribution. From watching the Celtics, they are a first half team , they like to set the pace in games. They overwhelmed the Knicks in the first Q . To get a feel of Fournier’s field goal shooting get a load of 19-8 Celtics. Even off balance he nails the three. Evan is always hungry for the ball, it also helps that the Celtics defense wasn’t getting tight on him too, 19-11 Celtics. Celtics put in a small masterclass in field goal shooting in the second Q, Tatum running riot from down town. He wasn’t alone. Watch 54-32 Celtics as Boston constructed a 20 point plus lead. The steals stat had to be in favor of New York in the second half if they had to mount a come back.

They were off to a good start. Watch 63-50 Celtics. Randle telegraphing the pass to Celtics Williams setting up Fournier. One of 8 steals for the match for the Knicks. For a while it seemed things well looking up at Madison Square Garden for New York, but Tatum and Co had other ideas. The lead went from 10 points to 19 points in no time. One of the beautiful plays was this pass from Tatum to Brown at 73-56 Celtics. One of a game high 9 for the JT. A series of missed buckets by the Celtics late in Q3 coupled with some down town shooting saw the lead cut to just 7. It wasn’t just Evan, it was Randle(He got comedian Tracy Morgan all fired about in the chairs),it was Barrett on the 3-tip. Evan got cocky at 82-73 Celtics, just one blemish in an otherwise memorable night for him. The confidence was on for the Knicks, the shooting percentage from the field was 39%. It was all systems go for Q4. Lead whittled down to 2 points by guess who at 87-82 Boston. They couldn’t handle jay though (93-90), they almost lost the game because of that. How to defend against Jay? Get the biggest guy in your team on him, close, that is Randle. They didn’t do that often. With the game at 103-101 Knicks(at last) it became an attritional game of fouling and who gets the most free throws. At 105-105 with a second to go to overtime, Barrett came up trumps on the clutch with a huge three at the buzzer. A great win from the Knicks in what is one of the games of the season so far to keep their play off hopes alive and well.

Nets , best in the East, taking on ATL best in the league from down town. Trae versus KD. Nets have been great on the road sequence continuing here . KD was in a no nonsense mood in defense with the block on the nifty guard at 6-2 hawks. Nets stronger in defense against the smaller Hawks, started to get the feel of the Q1. Game plan seemed to be working but Trae began finding teammates in the paint. Watch the alley hoop at 20-18 NETS to tie up the game.

That was more like it get the bigger guys inside the paint, all square going into Q2. KD is well into his 30s and was sensibly rested at the start of Q2. Brooklyn hardly felt his absence. Brown huge inside the arch. Hawks started to get into the game midway through the stanza. Gallo was great from the 3-point range, check out 37-36. Nets ending Q2 well, KD with a a 3-pointer at 48-47 Hawks with a foul for a 4 point swing. Into Q3, Brooklyn’s lead burst I to double figures. They were awesome on the transition. Check out 73-64 Nets.

Hawks clawing back with this huge 3 at 89-88 Nets. Now watch 3 minutes to the end of the match. Trae pulls Hawks within one point of the Hawks with a well taken 3 and a slice lay up. Durant huge defensively marking out Trae leading Nets to a 8 point win. KD has that side to him besides his shooting prowess.

Here we go. The NBA season starts again and what a match to kick of the regular season. Two teams that disappointed last term, probably not a fault of their own but injuries wreaked havoc on both camps. It’s LeBron versus Steph again and just like the Play-Ins Golden State was top dog. Top scoring for the Warriors was Curry with 21 points, followed by Jordan Poole with 20. One of the reasons Golden State was average in the play offs last season was the over reliance on Steph for the points. It wasn’t the case here , scoring was well spread out with six players making double figures. I cannot say the same for the Lakers though. LeBron had a game high 34 points with Antony Davis a point behind but no one came even close to reaching 15.

LeBron looked sharp in preseason and he was in this match too. Check out the 3-pointer at 12-9 Warriors with the plenty of time on the shot clock. This was followed by the block at 14-12 Lakers. His defensive game was on point in this one with a game high 11 rebounds. Despite the impressive alley-hoop to Davis by Rondo at 23-18 Lakers, the Warriors overall were better from the paint. Watch this drive by Poole at 96-90 Golden State. This especially in the second half. Steph was the King of assists in this one with 10, the closest Laker was LeBron and Rondo with 5. Relaxed nature of the match saw a lot of 3-point attempts some from way down town but both teams were almost at par in as far as successful attempts are concerned. This looks like will be the pattern for the regular season, the Lakers getting the bigger two as high up on the scoring as possible. But they will struggle if they encounter a side like the Warriors whose shooting accuracy if off the charts(they were 25/30 on free throws to their 9/19).They need to get all their players to contribute if the Lakers are to get back on top of the ball game in 2022.

Portland point guard Damian Lillard scored 55 points and 10 assists, but Denver taking game 5 to lead 3-2. No defensive emphasis in this one, a total of 287 points scored. The one man show that is Lillard contrasts to a spread out points contribution from the Nuggets who had three players scoring plus 20. Big Jok(number 15) was the man for Denver especially in that first quarter ending up with 38 points and 10 rebounds for the match.

Watch when scores were 31-20. Jokic is one of the best shooters in the NBA known from his three pointers but he scores a lot of twos from very few attempts which is just as good as scoring few threes from a lot of attempts. Watch 35-22 to Denver. This is one of Damian’s assists of the match. That pass to Nurkic was awesome, it didn’t take him a millisecond to see he was open showing great vision. Nuggets winning it by seven, they were slightly better than Portland’s field goal stat 48% to 45%. Lillard got a lot of records in this match. The most three pointers in a playoff match, 12. First player to score 55 points with double digit assists. This will come to knot if his team doesn’t make the next round, it’s a team sport hey.

What makes the Jazz a dangerous team?Their three pointer record is awesome and that carried them through in their last two games of the series. Utah now leading series 2-1 having lost game 1. Donovan Mitchell superb with 29 points as that first quarter blitz was enough to carry them through. 19/43 from down town were the Jazz compared to 13/41 for Memphis all match. With Ja Morant around obviously the Grizzlies were bound to be better at scoring from the paint. Watch first quarter 20-15 Utah. There ain’t a single player inside the arch, we can count 1 2 3 4 players on that arch. Utah know their strength and they play to that let’s give them credit. 3 points definitely better than 2.
