AFC East’s third best Miami looking to make a wild card push for the playoffs at least go into the Monday Night Football game against New Orleans on a roll winning 6 straight games. They are the NFL’s most in form team (They lost seven in a row at the start of the season)but doubts remain as to their form on the road. They are 7-7 going into this one but one of the few third placed teams with a negative away from home record. The reverse can not be more true for New Orleans. They are also 7-7 going into this one but fantastic on the road. Just how awful the Saints where in first quarter? Check out number 84 at 0-0 10:30 turn his back on his QB Ian Book. Needham will not get an easier pick 6 than that this season. Awful awful awful. I try to be impartial but it is tough to find positives from this Saints performance in Q1. They were missing 22 players because of the Omicron outbreak so we should hit them hard for this one. They were shut out in three of the four Qs but they got their defensive act back in Q2.
It took them until that stanza to get their first first down. Ounch. But the defense Werner 7/3 was the best figures of the game. The best period of possession yielded their only points of the game from the boot of Maher, the later part of the Q2. Watch 10-3 as the Q wound down Cameron Jordan sacked Tagovailoa(Dolphins QB) in what was the best play from the Saints. Such were few and far between in second half. Tagovailoa was the best QB with 198 yards(modest but ok) and 19/26. The fact that he got intercepted once and Book twice makes him better. Book was 135 yards and 12/20 from passes. Saints had issues on the third down with Book holding on to the ball way too long for my liking. Waddle scored the only TD for the Dolphins from their own offense at 10-3 05:16 in Q3 AFTER A DEFENSE FLAG. Waddle is having a rookie season for the ages. The two defenses canceled each other out in Q4 with the only points on the board scored by Sanders from the boot. This win makes Miami seed number 7 for the play offs. This means their last two regular season games become mightily important must wins.
