Last season’s NBA Finalists Phoenix are learning from chocking against the Bucks. They lead the way neck and neck with Golden State in the West with a 25-5 record going into this one. The big players aren’t suffering from after effects in particular Devin Booker. He was averaging 27 points last season and 5.6 rebounds . In this game he turned up again with 30 points ,7 rebounds and 7 assists. Check out the Suns shooting guard in the opening moments of the game as they blitzed through the opening quarter. Decision making is his forte. Watch 11-3 Suns. He could well have gotten the two there , but saw Bridges open for the three. He has confidence in this teammates’ ability. Thunder had the measure of the Suns attacking the paint. Shai was their best scorer with 29 points mostly from that part of the court. Check out 20-8 Suns..
Thunder are good at clawing away at a lead. This game showed that they are a great second quarter team. I love this block by Bazley on Payton to avoid the three as OKC got defensively tighter at 37-24. Crowder paid the Thunder back by doing the same at 39-31. But all the pressure on the Suns defense paid off as they tied the game just before half time and took the lead as well. Giddey(17 points) with the drive plus 1 at 43-40 and a the big three from Mann. That seemed to tick off Phoenix who came up with a big Q of their own. Deandre putting a good show on the paint for the Suns but Devin against instrumental. Check out the bucket at 62-61 Thunder. Chasing his own missed shot and overpowering Dort at the rim. He is deceptively powerful is Booker. OKC couldn’t hold the ball to save their lives in Q3 an d were punished. Icing on the cake 3 by Booker on the buzzer was out of this world, almost MJ-esque(I dare not jinx him).
Thunder had all to do in Q4. Their shooting improved to 38%, which made the game more exciting in the last Q. This three from Giddey made it 94-86 but problem was the Suns were also accurate from down town. Check out Chris Paul nailing one in the next play. Exclamation point flush by Deandre at 111-98 on the rebound putting the seal on the big margin win for Phoenix. So far so good for the team from the desert. OKC has all to do to make the play offs. Down in 14th in the West
