Thanksgiving football with Chicago travelling to Detroit looking to improve their playoff chances, having a 4-6 record going into this one. The Lions are the worst team in the NFC Division and the League with a 0-9-1 record. Why are Detroit so bad this season? No disrespect but going for Jared Goff after his acrimonious exit from the LA Rams probably has something to do with it. He looked East to revive his career and so far it has been anything but. From there he has gone from 60 TD per game in first season to 42 last season. Despite all this, Lions made a pretty decent start to proceedings. How about that 40 yard pass to Josh Reynolds to open the scoring? In contrast, the Bears had offensive troubles in Q1 or should I say Detroit was better defensively. Take 7-0 6:10, Chicago had 10 yards to make up on the 3rd down. Andy Dalton the Chicago QB needed to go wide to an open player at the bottom of the screen but didn’t. Instead they got only 8 yards. Good defense as well from Detroit, triple teaming.

Things started to go south for the Lions in Q2, losing Rushing player D’Andre Swift to a shoulder injury. They started getting penalized more. Cairo Santos’s kick opened the scoring for the Bears, one of 3 with the last one proving crucial. Dalton who had impressive throw of 317 yards for the match finding Graham at 7-3. Then the Lions lost the whole match in this second quarter from this one play here, 10-7 with 10 seconds to go to half time. The 10 yards gained here allowed Santos to make the 43 yard field goal for extra 3 points. The match ending up being a 2 point game , this was HUGE. Goff despite all his troubles has a good eye for the wide receiver, his completion wasn’t too bad either at 21/25 and most importantly no interceptions for the match. He showed this by finding Hockenson for the only TD of Q3 to make it a one point game at 14-13. So given the loss record the Lions have, their coach can be forgiven for trying to just shut up shop in the fourth quarter. For them to do that they had to get possession of the ball hey. They just couldn’t. The Bears held the ball by completing as much passes as possible or QB Dalton(24/39) driving with the ball like at 14-13 13:05. And a heck of a lot more penalties against the Lions didn’t help either. That paved the way for a final play field goal from Santos to narrowly win it and avoid being the first team to lose to Detroit this season. Possession is 9/10 of the law.
