Whichever way you look at it, Tuchel and Chelsea are a great match. It has all fallen in place for the London club since hiring the German gaffer last year and this stand out performance of the round says so. The prominent thing about the Chelsea score sheets this season is the variety of scorers in the team. Save for goalkeeper Mendy, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE OUTFIELD PLAYERS that featured in this match with the Bianconeri has scored this season. Right from the outset it was attack, attack, attack. The Chelsea full backs are clearly being given license to get high up on the pitch as can be seen from the first chance on the clip by the position of Chilwell and James. Even Rudiger wanted in on the action. For the Chelsea fans you can’t ask for more. This is quite a change in the “normal” Chelsea philosophy from years gone by where the style was mostly premised on defensive organization with a Makelele or Obi Mikel starting attacks after winning the ball usually ending with a very dull 1-0 win or 2-1. Another notable change is the shift to giving youth a chance as seen by the emergence of Chalobah, Hudson-Odoi and Mount.

Juventus were poor and the fact that they were actually fielding their strongest eleven makes it even worse. Morata’s 11 goals in 31 appearances for the Blues was considered poor such that they moved him on. He nearly scored against them on 27 minutes after being out through by Locattelli but Thiago Silva with an important clearance. Juventus have been so inconsistent this season. Despite already going through with Chelsea to the knockout phase they have a lot to be concerned about. Their failure to control games from the midfield evident, Locatelli is good but in my opinion not the best Juve can get. As in Serie A, the finishing was sadly lacking. Time to hand out the prizes. Is there a better right back in world soccer than Trent Alexander Arnold and Reece James? Some say Reece James is better and he showed with this another top performance. He is averaging 0.55 goals per game this season. For a guy who is expected to help stop them going in that isn’t shabby at all. Chelsea will finish top of the group with Juve second in what was in honesty a two horse race.
