This is by a margin the most entertaining match of the season in Serie A. Both teams attacked without fear but also leaving the door opponent behind them. Both sides could have easily lost this one so they will be glad to get the point. A player the Inter fans would be happy they held on to in the summer is Lantauro Martinez. He never is out of form the Argentine and showed his class with the volley opener. His goal is a toss up with Malinovsky’s equalizer for goal of the match, the left foot troubles the Nerazzurri like no body’s business.

The match’s last moments were married by controversy though. The penalty award was the correct one no doubt but Dimarco blazed over. Why defenders feel the need to stretch out an arm when there is little danger I will never know. Atalanta with the clock striking full time thought they had equalized through Piccoli but VAR ruled that the ball had gone out of play earlier for a corner to Atalanta. Inter goalie Handanovic had tried to prevent the corner by putting the ball back into play. I think the Bergamo side should feel hard done by. One, the linesman never flagged for the corner and two this happened several phases of play before the goal by Piccoli. I don’t know if the VAR is allowed to go that far back in play before the goal. All in all either side deserved the win.
