These two sides produced 8 goals last term so it was safe to say goals were going to be scored here. Like last season the best of the lot came from Leeds who again never changed their attacking style even when down. Ayling’s goal was the best and those bad defensive habits that dogged United last season apparent in the build up to that goal. Varane’s signing could help let’s wait and see. Pogba played like it was his last match for United (for the sake of the United fans I hope not), superb in passing, brilliant movement off the ball, his best match for United ever I think. His new role in the attacking part of midfield could be enough to persuade him to stay.

Patrick Bamford was very isolated in this match ,to my surprise, the final ball from the Leeds midfield lacking. Bruno Fernandes scored a hat trick although in my opinion all goals could easily have been avoided by Leeds. Sancho came on for his Premier League debut with 15 minutes to go. He didn’t have any meaningful chances at goal as Leeds closed out the match the better team. The best goal for United was undoubtedly the Fred goal. A handful players on the planet can pick out a run the way Pogba picked up Fred’s late run into the box.Lastly if there is one player that needed to up their game for this one it was Victor Lindelof. The unveiling of Varane before the game was effectively a notice for the Swede that his place could well be in jeopardy but he responded with a solid display even better than Maguire’s.
