Mark Cavendish conquering the Nimes 219 km Stage 13 to break the long standing record for the most Tour stage wins which stood at 33. The course was made for the sprint with no major climbs above 350 meters. After a relatively quiet week in terms of crashes, a major one happened with 62km to go taking out thirty plus riders including Simon Yates. The road was too dangerous for my liking, with a ditch on the right side. The strip of road was at a crucial point in the race where riders would want to stay as close as possible to the head of the peloton. Anyway there was no solo breakaways in this one obviously, sunny hot conditions meant strength preservation is a must. Mark seizing the lead in the final meters of the race to win.
