The Tour De France has had an insane start from two crashes to the cardboard fiasco. The Dutchman Mathieu Van Der Poel looked to have gotten his tactics wrong earlier on in the race by attacking way to early at the Côte de Mûr-de-Bretagne. There was a method to the madness I think. It did force the attack from 4 other riders. The course was fairly flat with summery conditions making it a race suitable to the no holds barred cycling. Corbrelli couldn’t keep up with about 840 meters to the finish. The Italian did something wrong there. Watch Mathieu streak away to the right. In cycling it is prudent to stay close to your sprinting opponent so as to gauge your speed.

By the time Corbrelli adjusts, the Dutchman is away and no catching him. He faded so badly he would finish 27th, probably being a team player wanted to give the stronger rider in his Bahrain Victorious team VINGEGAARD and Haig a chance. Defending champ Tadej Pogacar finished in the silver position and bronze to the Slovenian dynamo Primoz Roglic.
