La Furia Roja has flown under the radar into the last 16 after underwhelming performances against Sweden and Poland. In my play of the week they turned on the style against the Slovakians with an attacking display reminiscent of Spain’s past tournament triumphs. The fourth goal in this 5-0 drubbing of hapless Slovakia takes the gong this week. Simple dissecting of a blue wall. The corner is short to Sarabia by Koke. Spain doesn’t do long balls. For me Barca’s Pedri makes this ball possible, inch perfect back to the PSG man Sarabia. Not only were the Slovakia defense sitting too deep(there was no Spain player anywhere near their goal line when the corner was taken), they failed to push up to trap Sarabia in an offside. With everyone ball watching, Ferran Torres ghosted in. The Man City man was way ahead of the ball and had the presence of mind to heel it in. Tiki Taka at its finest.
