The Welsh, the pride of the British Empire. This victory all but guarantees a second round berth. An amazing feat done thousands of miles away from home in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Bale-Ramsey connection working wonders. Who says Ex Spurs and Gunners can’t work together. I would have thought the absence of Ryan Giggs(pending court case for assault on two women) from the dug out would affect the 2016 semi finalists but manager Page knows how to find the right balance in his team. Ramsey’s opening goal was timing perfection. Save for Burak Yilmaz who played a great game as captain, having the best chances for the Turks, most of the Turkish players honestly looked like they didn’t want to be there.

It was not all plain sailing for the Welsh though. Bales’s penalty taking left a lot to be desired and that needs to be changed. This is a knockout competition so penalties are a real possibility as some point. Some of the decision making in the final third was awful. At one point Man United’s Dan James try an aerial cross there instead of a grass cutting square ball when it was two vs two on the counter in the second half. Goalkeeper Ward has been sensational for Wales(Time to move on from Hennessey(Not the liquor)). He pulled off great saves in that second half.
