A fantastic afternoon for Scandinavian soccer which turned sombre. Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsing before a throw in is made and received emergency medical attention. Parken Stadium was awesome in its tribute to Eriksen. Christian is reportedly fine in hospital and recovering. Credit to captain Simon Kjaer of Milan for administering first aid. Importance of having adequate medical equipment emphasized again. Not to speculate on his medical condition but the use of a defibrillator suggests a cardiac condition. Wishing him a speedy return to action.

Back to the pitch, UEFA deserves credit for not making unilateral decision to continue play AKA Heysel Stadium. What happened at Heysel? In 1985 UEFA chose to continue with the European Cup final even though Juventus fans died when a wall collapsed in the stadium before a match against Liverpool.

Both sides were consulted and agreed to continue, although I believe it wasn’t a good idea. Psychologically both were not up for it clearly as seen by the Hojbjerg weak penalty. Finland were outplayed in all departments but scored with their only shot at goal. Schmeichel could have done better but hey like I said most players were not themselves here.Pohlanpalo making history with the first goal for the Finns and first winning goal at a major finals.
