A little respite after stage 14 came in the form of the 147km Grado to Gorizia course with humped topography. One rider who didn’t see this as a respite is stage 13 victor Giacommo Nizzollo. He decided to abandon the race to get some rest following the grueling climbs of stage 14 where he found the going tough. Stage 15 favored the sprinting kind of rider and it was time trial specialist Victor Campenaerts who won it, his first Grand Tour stage win . The Belgian broke away from a group late on the race and was in competition with Oscar Riesebeek for the win. Nice to see race neutralization working well after the crash across the flat bridge there. Victor did well to stay on the bike on a slippery day with Oscar in close attention. Bernal is still top of the overall with a minute 33 on Simon Yates in second.

Race neutralization is whereby the race is slowed down ,not actually racing at the behest of the organizers to ensure fair play and allow injured or medical personnel to catch up to the rear bunch.
