As we get toward the business end of the Giro, the first time winners keep coming up as well. Giacomo Nizzolo of Italy finally had something to smile about having been runner up in no less than 11 sprints at the Giro by winning Stage 13 in Verona on Friday. The Maglia Rosa still with Colombian Bernal after finishing safely in the peloton in a wise self preservation decision given the steep mountains to come in Stage 14.The flat surface favored a fast finishing time and Nizzolo obliged with a finish at a time of 4hrs 42 mins and 19 seconds ahead of another Italian Edoardo Affini who had led the final breakaway. If Affini had delayed breaking away by maybe 5 seconds it is my opinion he would have won the stage. Peter Sagan came in third almost pipping Affini as well.
