17th of May saw stage 10 of the Giro taking place , a 139km course set from L’Aquila to Foligno characterized by a final descent. Peter Sagan of the Bora-Hasngrohe team won the stage with a good sprint at the end beating Fernando Gaviria of UAE Team Emirates. It was a case of Dey javu as Peter won stage 10 in the delayed Giro last year. The course had a railway crossing with about 88 km to go which is dangerous I must say. It was good to see the organizers were not taking any chances and stewards were on hand along with the boom gate. Peter attacked at the opportune time opening a sizeable gap in the last kilometer which Fernando did well to close significantly but couldn’t do it before the finishing line.

Egan Bernal is still the overall leader but second placed Remco Evenepoel of Belgium closed the gap by a second on him. Remco earned it through the bonus sprint whereby he beat Egan to the finishing line in the second intermediary sprint.
