Italian up and comer Jannik Sinner continues to make waves in Dubai this time upsetting fourth seeded Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in three sets to reach the quarter finals. Sinner notched up 16 Aces and won most points on his opponents’ serve. The fist pumping Sinner winning the first set 6-4 with his more experienced opponent losing the break in the all important ninth game at 4-4 deuce. It was more like it in the second set from Roberto.Forehands are his specialty, Jannik a little hasty in coming to the net during the first point at 3-3.6-3 to Roberto. My money was on him to close out the third. How wrong was I. Roberto did make me confident my money was safe though. Check out first game of the third at 30-15 on Sinner’s serve. The rally was neutral until Jannik tried to seize the advantage with a very low forehand that left Roberto scrambling. Bautista Agut got there but hit a weak backhand with Sinner charging at it at the net, you would think point won for Sinner right? The back hand reply was MONEY for Roberto. The game reached the 12th game with a tie break looking increasingly to be on the cards. Sinner’s great hitting won him the set and he did not even need the breaker after all. Watch the rainbow forehand that sealed it.
