Bayern won another world club cup in Qatar yesterday beating Tigres of Mexico(CONCACAF Champions league winners). French right back Pavard scored the winner in the 59th minute with a virtual tap in after a knock down by Robert Lewandolski. The Mexican side protested the goal arguing a case for offside against the Polish striker. On review Lewandolski was played onside by the slightest of margins, a defender’s heel. Tigres had a reprieve as well earlier on in the match. Kimmich thought he had scored with a shot on the edge of the box only for VAR to rule it out for offside by an interfering player(Lewandolski). This is testament to the Pole’s ability to move to dangerous positions in the box but this time was unlucky to have moved a little too early. Upon my close inspection of the incident maybe Tigres had a case for handball against the Pole, the ball hitting his elbow. With the new handball criteria this is a mighty close one to call so the goal should rightly stand.

Bayern were on top in this match in every stat invented , Tolisso unlucky to hit post as well as Sane earlier before the goal. The Mexicans managed a single shot at Neuer’s goal from a measly 3 attempts. Lewandolski was rightly named player of the tournament after being involved with all of Bayern’s three goals in the tournament.
